Banditz Champs in Irvine

The Galaxy Banditz, our club’s BU17 club soccer team, started their season off by clinching the championship at the Irvine Showcase Tournament held over the August 14-15, 2010 weekend.  Under the leadership of Robert Risley, a St. Matthew School teacher and coach, the team beat Chivas USA 2-1 and Santa Monica United 2-0. Danny Hulbert scored on a header off of a corner kick from Shane Centkowski in the final play of a nail biter vs. Santa Ana FC/Brazil to advance the Banditz into the championship game.

Nine different players scored during the two-day event including co-captains Centkowski and Quaid Walker, Luis Alcaraz,  Guillermo Che, Peter Delgado, Max Frenner, Ricardo Ocampo, Charlie Porter and Hulbert.  The defense, which only allowed one goal, was led by Spencer Hartig, Nick Herrera, Jordan Lewis, Kevin Strangeway, Joseph Doyle and goalies Aziz Yehia and Matt Davidov.

Comprised of many seasoned Pacific Palisades and Santa Monica players, the boys enter Coast Soccer League play at the Gold level in September.
