The girls under 13 Galaxy Alliance En Fuego have been on fire this August. Over the weekend of August 7-8, the team won 4 straight games including the championship at the FC Irvine Showcase Tournament. They did this with very few and sometimes no substitute players available! The En Fuego beat Olimpia Orange 3-0, then FC Irvine 7-1 on Saturday. Early Sunday morning, the En Fuego beat CSC Red 1-0 to qualify for the championship game later in the afternoon. In the final, the En Fuego defeated AUSC G97 Blue 2-1.
This past weekend, the Galaxy En Fuego kept up the solid play and walked away with the 1st place trophy at the Santa Barbara SC Summer Cup. The team met up with AC Milan Red (2-1 win) and Coastal Valley Blaze G97 (4-0 win) on Saturday and then played Impact Explosion (2-0 win) before playing Santa Anita SC Strikers in the championship game. In the final, the En Fuego played a tough team shorthanded and still came away with the trophy in a close 1-0 game.
Keep your eye on the En Fuego this year as they are playing great soccer!

The Galaxy Alliance B94 Black, formerly known to the world as the Galaxy Vapor, went four for four in Orange County over the August 21-22 weekend to take the championship trophy at the 2010 West Coast Futbol Classic. The team beat FC Cypress 3-0 in its opener and then beat FC San Diego 4-0 in its late game Saturday. On Sunday afternoon, the team came from behind to beat Arsenal 2-1 to advance to the championship game vs. Celtic Harps. In the championship the team gave up an early goal, but by halftime had evened the game with a pretty shot from the 18 by Beau Barnett after Elijah Lichtenberg faked a direct kick and shuffled it off to Barnett. In the second half, the B94 Black went ahead for good on a knee/thigh drill into the goal by Zach Peters-Vernier off of a brilliant cross from David Joy.
The team is coached by Christian Chambers and they will be playing in the BU16 Gold bracket this fall in the Coast Soccer League.

The weekend of May 8-9 found the Galaxy En Fuego playing great soccer at the Chivas Simi Valley Tournament. The En Fuego team went undefeated only allowing one goal over the weekend’s 4 games. Playing against very good “Silver-level” competition, the En Fuego went on a streak winning games by scores of 2-0, 3-1, 1-0 against teams the En Fuego may have tied in the past but had never beaten. In the tournament championship game, the En Fuego won 1-0!
The Galaxy En Fuego completed their fall 2009 Bronze West bracket in Coast Soccer League with a 10-3-1 record and should be heading to a GU13 Silver bracket for the fall 2010 season. The En Fuego’s current play is showing the results of all the hard work they have shown in preparing for their upcoming Silver action. The En Fuego has recently entered several competitions to push the team. The En Fuego turned a corner recently in the Santa Clarita tournament when they were matched up against the Celtics Harps, the team that had recently eliminated the En Fuego in this year’s California State Cup by the score of 5-0. In the Santa Clarita tourney, it was an entirely different story with the En Fuego giving the Celtics Harps all it could handle in a very exciting game. At the end of regulation play, the game was tied at 1-1. The Harps needed penalty kicks to win the game. Although the En Fuego team lost the game, they knew they were winners too and they should take away the confidence that they are on the right track in their preparation for next year’s Silver competition. Keep your eye on the En Fuego!
