Robert Risley
Coach Rob Risley joined the Galaxy Alliance coaching staff in May 2010 and is also a Physical Education teacher at St. Matthew’s Parish School in Pacific Palisades. Coach Risley moved to the US from London, England in 1993 to attend Marshall University in Huntington, WV on a full soccer scholarship. Prior to moving to the States, coach Risley played in the youth set up for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspurs and was an England schoolboy international. After a successful career at Marshall, coach Risley moved to Boston to become Director of Coaching of Play Soccer while continuing his playing career in the USL for both Rhode Island Stingrays and the Worcester Kings. Turning to coaching full time in 2003, coach Risley coached the Boston Renegades of the W-League to an undefeated regular season title. Coach Risley also was Associate Head Coach at Assumption College in Worcester, MA, leading the team to a top 25 NCAA Division II ranking in 2003.
In August 2004 Coach Risley moved to Northern California to coach at Saint Mary’s College of California for two years. While at Saint Mary’s Coach Risley earned both his Master’s Degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation and also his California teaching credential. Additionally, he founded the Regional Soccer Academy, a program that focuses on individual player development as well as local coaching development. While in Northern California, Coach Risley was also Director of Coaching for the Lamorinda Boys Soccer Club before moving on to become Head Coach of both the Men’s and Women’s programs at Holy Names University in Oakland. Coach Risley also coached at the Walnut Creek Soccer Club, leading his BU16 team to tournament wins at both the Cal Odyssey tournament as well as the 2009 Santa Barbara Spring Cup. Coach Risley has his NSCAA Premier license, a USSF B license and an English F.A. license.
